Frequently Asked Questions
Can I read Hoosierbrand online?
No, sorry. The only way to read Hoosierbrand is to subscribe to the print edition. We only print enough copies for subscribers, plus a few extras – when they’re gone, they’re gone.
So why print only?
There is no shortage of content online about Indiana—photos, reels, hot takes, and headlines that move on as quickly as they arrive. Some of it is good. Much of it is fleeting. Competing in an algorithm-driven cycle of constant posting, trending topics, and disposable images isn’t what Hoosierbrand was built to do.
Print slows things down. It asks for attention. It gives stories the time and space they deserve—stories about working hands, small towns, family businesses, land, craft, service, and tradition. These aren’t moments meant to be swiped past. They’re meant to be lived with.
Hoosierbrand is made for the page because the work is meant to last. The photographs belong on paper. The writing benefits from patience. A finished issue is not an update—it’s a record.
Timeless stories take time to make, and they deserve a form that endures.
What kinds of stories will I find inside?
Hoosier Brand publishes long, tightly edited stories anchored by strong photography.
Each piece is built to capture the essence of a person, place, or moment in Indiana—clearly, honestly, and without excess. These are visual narratives and field observations, reported on site and shaped with intention. Every photograph earns its place. In an era of endless scrolling, filters, and synthetic imagery, Hoosierbrand prints only photographs made with care, patience, and purpose.
Hoosierbrand values clarity over length, attention over volume, and permanence over immediacy. The stories are short by design. The impact is meant to last.
What won’t I find in Hoosierbrand?
If the web does something better, we let it stay on the web. Hoosier Brand is selective by design. Our print pages are limited, intentional, and protected.
You will not find:
-
Listicles.
No rankings. No click-driven formatting. No filler. -
Sponsored editorial.
We run advertisements from partners we respect, but advertisers do not write our stories. No native ads. No marketing dressed up as journalism. -
Product or gear reviews.
Our pages are not a catalog. If we believe in a product strongly enough to mention it, it may appear elsewhere—never at the expense of editorial space in the magazine. -
Trend coverage or social-media-driven content.
No algorithms. No outrage cycles. No chasing relevance.
Hoosier Brand is built for permanence. Every page must earn its place. If it doesn’t belong on paper, it doesn’t belong here.
It seems expensive.
You’re not wrong. Hoosierbrand isn’t cheap.
That’s because it’s built to last. Each issue is printed at a larger format than most magazines, on heavy paper, with care given to ink, layout, and binding. Those choices cost more—but they matter. A magazine isn’t worth much if it feels disposable. We intend every issue to be kept, revisited, and shared.
Still, printing isn’t the largest expense. The real investment is the work itself—time in the field, photography made slowly, writing edited tightly, and design treated as craft. Even though Hoosierbrand stories are concise, they are not rushed. Care costs money.
Hoosierbrand is also not built around chasing volume or pleasing advertisers. It’s supported primarily by readers who value independence, quality, and trust. That allows us to make editorial decisions without compromise—and to remain accountable to the people who actually read the magazine.
We don’t ask you to buy Hoosierbrand often. We ask you to buy it intentionally. If you value permanence over speed, and substance over scale, you’ll understand the price.
